Recap: Guinness International Champions Cup 2014 Soccer

Live from the Rockies in Denver,Colorado at Sports Authority Field;Manchester United did battle with
A.S. Roma at the Home of the Denver Broncos. A.S. Roma boasted a starting line up that included a combo of experience and youth but Manchester United was resolute in their desire to win.  The first 35 minutes of the game remained scoreless as attempts by both sides were made to score.
A.S Roma stated that the heat and altitude may have effected their playing, which was a sentiment felt by the Manchester United also stopped several times due  to heat and much needed water breaks. Manchester United drew first blood and remained on top with a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Minutes later they struck again furthering the gap with a 2-0 lead. after two more goals and an assist, Manchester United narrowed the gap by 3-0.
A.S Roma tried several attempts to score in the second half of the game however most of their efforts led to missed goals initially. Late in the game Roma regrouped to score, closing the gap 3-1 with 12 minutes remaing in the game. Later on a sudden death score narrowed the game 3-2 with just a minute left in the game but it was not enough to beat Manchester United. The fate of the game was sealed with a 3-2 victory and Manchester United was left unbeaten. The remainder of the 2014 games will be played in a total of 12 cities and 13 stadiums across the United States and Canada.

This year’s format will consist of two groups of four in a round-robin format. Each team will play a total of three matches in group play and the two group leaders will face off on August 4 in the final at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

Update:

August 2, 2016  saw Manchester United vs. Real Madrid live at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Setting a record attendance of 109,318 both teams took to the field with 11 players each. The game was scoreless until 23:09 when Manchester United leaped ahead with a 1-0 lead. Real Madrid soon countered to tie the game 1-1 for the remainder of the first half. After halftime Manchester United scored again, thus narrowing the lead 2-1. With just 12 minutes of play remaining, Manchester United solidified their win by scoring again for a final score of 3-1. 

Indie Rockers, The Fray from Denver Colorado led the halftime entertainment with a killer set and Soccer star Ashley Young took home the "Man of the game" award. Manchester United will continue their play next week as they pursue another win and to become 2014 Guinness International Cup Champions.
