Baseball is Back: MILB Spotlight: The Memphis Redbirds

The St. Louis Cardinals agreed to sell a majority interest in the Memphis Redbirds to Peter B. Freund.Pending approval of the Pacific Coast League, Freund, the principal owner of Trinity Baseball Holdings, will take control on April 1, 2016.Two years ago, the Cardinals bought the Redbirds after entering an arrangement with the city of Memphis for upgrades to AutoZone Park. The city also took ownership of the ballpark.Financial terms of the sale have not been released, but DeWitt said the Cardinals will keep a minority stake in the Redbirds and the team will remain the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate.
The 2016 season started with opening day on April 7, 2016. Fans traveled from cities such as St. Louis, Atlanta and from all over the mid-south to see Future Cardinals Players as Redbirds now. Autozone Park recently underwent multi million dollar renovations in addition to gaining new food vendors. The park now offers a variety of food as well as vegetarian and vegan optioned meals. If BBQ Nachos, Ribs and Coleslaw aren't enough, there has also been the recent addition of Beer from several micro breweries in the area. One that comes to mind is Ghost River Brewery, which has many craft beers.
