In Memoriam: MIK

Nearly 46 years ago a bullet silenced one of the 20th century’s most prolific and well-spoken leaders. In life, King urged people to change their way of thinking and to treat everyone with respect, kindness and fair sensibility. In his passing, the movement and dream that he loved so much and strived to see achieved in his lifetime is now a reality for millions of people living in the U.S. April 4, 2016 will be a somber yet joyful day of remembrance for the fallen hero. This day of remembrance will be marked across the country, including a "Breaking of the Chains" ceremony at the National Civil Rights Museum, which is on the site where King was fatally shot.

In honor of the legacy and many contributions of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, JR, WITIN RADIO would like to share a brief list of activities being offered in memoriam to the slain civil rights leader.
April 4, 2016:
50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, 2:00-5:30pm, NCRM Hooks•Hyde Hall An educational forum addressing the impact of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964. What led to the legislation? What promises were granted, what's left unfulfilled and what now? Candlelight Vigil, 6:00pm, Courtyard: commemorating the 46th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination.

April 5, 2016: Community Day, A full day of activities for the official opening. First day the renovated museum is open to public.Freedom Forward Parade, 9:30am: The Freedom Forward Parade begins at the Cook Convention Center and proceeds along Second Street to the National Civil Rights Museum Breaking of the Chains, 11:00am: Grand reopening ceremony concluding with the official opening of the doors to the public.Freedom Forward Main Stage, 12:00pm: A full day of performances, speeches, and reflections from the Freedom Forward main stage as visitors tour the Museum.

Hero Named Rush is a new micro-series written specifically for Instagram, about Arthur Kang, an average New Yorker, who suddenly and mysteriously acquires super speed.
