#TravelTuesday: Austin's Euphoria Music Festival

One of the Spring’s most highly anticipated festivals, Euphoria, has announced the artists-by-day lineup for the annual Austin event this April 7-10, 2016. Kicking off the things a day early this year, campers are invited to enter the grounds beginning at Noon on Thursday, April 7th. With the added day comes the Thursday night New Moon Pre-Party in celebration of the first phase of the Euphoria family’s return back to Carson Creek Ranch. The New Moon Pre-Party will be exclusive to all four-day campers and will feature performances by Bass Physics, who recently released the aptly named track “Euphoria”; Austin livetronica act, Blunt Force; and a special set by The Polish Ambassador. The New Moon celebration will include a communal bonfire, fire dancers, drum circles and more.
With Euphoria's first full day of music and festivities beginning on Friday, April 8th, festival goers will be hard pressed to tag which day is biggest and best; however, for fans looking to come out for just the day, single day passes are now available for $54, plus fees. When was the Euphoria Music Festival Formed ?

Euphoria was founded five years ago, in 2012.

What is the story behind the Euphoria Music Festival ?

The idea for Euphoria came out of my many travels around the globe, visiting different festivals. The sense of community at each one of these events struck me in such a way that I wanted to bring that feeling back to Austin. It took a bit of time to get where we are today, but with the help of my friends and family I think we’ve got a great thing.

What were the highlights of last year's festival ?

Zeds Dead was probably one of my favorite acts of 2015. But it was probably the bigger event… the one we had no control over, of the rain letting up that was the highlight. We had a great festival that year.
What are the highlights of this year's Festival ?

"You’ll have to come out and see for yourself. We have definitely gone the extra mile for our 5th Anniversary, so it is tough to pick. The lineup is obviously our best to date, but things like the morning yoga at the Dragonfly Amphitheater or the Alamo Drafthouse onsite cinema are going to give Euphoria a real festival vibe."

What are some things that make The Euphoria Music Festival Unique ?

"I would have to say our sense of community. We see a lot of the same faces year after year and I don’t think that would be the case had we not put so much focus on that."
How can listeners get involved with the many efforts of The Euphoria Music festival ?

"We recently signed a two year agreement with Keep Austin Beautiful, which will entail events throughout the year, including river cleanups. And it will not just be for those local to the Austin area. On the Saturday of the festival we will be having a cleanup onsite, where fans from around the world can give back to their Euphoria home."
Has planning begun for next year's festival ?

"While this has turned into a year round project, our focus is on 2016."

What it a daunting undertaking to plan this years festival ?

"It is always a little intimidating. You always want to bring your best and be your best. That goes for the talent to the weather to the safety and enjoyment of our fans."

What should first time attendees expect from this festival ?

"To make a lot of new friends, that they will have for years to come."

Where can our readers learn more about the festival ?

Exclusive Interview: 804 Street Media CEO Lance Cooper

Last week, the staff of WITIN RADIO had the opportunity to meet with 804 Street Media CEO & Editor In Chief , Lance Cooper.During the interview we had the opportunity to speak with Lance on his life's work, his company's Social Media presence, and the state of Black America.

When did you launch 804 Street Media & what was the catalyst for you launching 804 Street Media ?

"The official brand evolved into a business around 2013, but the grind to put the 804 (Richmond. Virginia) on the map started back in the 1990’s. Everything started with hip-hop. In 1997 I had a rap group here in Richmond. Virginia was on the rise, we were actually the only rap group from Richmond to share a stage with Nas. This was around the time "It Was Written" dropped. Eventually, however the group parted ways. I put the microphone down and started promoting other artists. Coming from one of  the hardest places to "get on" from is Virginia, because support on every level…
